Tax Equalization
The Director of Tax Equalization is responsible for establishing values of all taxable property within the county. North Dakota property tax systems are based on market value of real property.
The Equalization office does not set your tax rate or collect taxes. Tax rates are calculated by the Auditor and set by the Board of County Commissioners depending on funding needed for units of government and other local services such as schools, parks, and roads. The Treasurer is responsible for the collection of all tax monies.
